About the Coach & Coaching
Coach Ashley
I was born in Taiwan and spent my early childhood there before my family relocated to Virginia in the US. Since then, I have lived in several countries - including France, UK, Chile, and now Spain, where I currently call Madrid home. These experiences have shaped my core values of curiosity, resilience, open-mindedness, and a nonjudgemental outlook.
Relocating, particularly as an adult, has brought its own sets of challenges. Each move required learning new languages, building friendships from the ground up, and adapting to unfamiliar environments not to mention navigating practical hurdles like visas, residency requirements, and even getting a new driver's license! At times I felt like an outsider and the journey was often both isolating and overwhelming, sometimes even straining relationships. Yet, these challenges have also fueled my growth, helping me embrace diverse cultures and build meaningful connections with people from all backgrounds. This journey has given me a deep, empathetic understanding of the complexities of cross-cultural relationships and the feeling of being an outsider.
In my coaching, I draw on the harmonious philosophies of the East along with the individualistic perspectives of the West to offer a balanced, culturally informed approach. Outside of coaching, I find peace in nature and joy in outdoor adventures like rock climbing and mountain biking, which continually inspire me to push past my own fears.
Experience & Education
In my professional journey, I spent 17 years working in the fashion industry in New York and London. Starting on the creative side, I later transitioned to the business side, collaborating with merchandising and e-commerce teams at companies like Stella McCartney, eBay UK, and a British sportswear startup. While managing a team of six, I discovered my passion for motivating and guiding others to realize their full potential.
However, when my husband’s job required us to relocate to Santiago, Chile, I had to step away from my career. The language barrier made it difficult to continue in the same field, and I initially felt lost and uncertain about starting a new career, especially as I approached my 40s. What seemed like a setback eventually became a blessing in disguise, as it led me to discover a more purposeful path. Becoming a coach has been the most fulfilling and rewarding experience of my life, and I feel truly honored that my clients trust me to be part of their personal growth and life journey.
